Privacy Policy
Color Legal LLC · Last updated October 28, 2026
Color Legal LLC (“Color Legal,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates colorlegal.com and the products and programs offered through it (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through the Site, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It is part of our Terms of Use.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use advertising trackers on the Site.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Information you give us. When you sign up for a free resource, make a purchase, apply to a program, or contact us, we collect what you provide. Depending on the form, that may include:
- your name, email address, and phone number;
- your firm, title, bar admissions, years in practice, and practice areas;
- your application responses, including general descriptions of matters you handle;
- billing details such as your billing name and address (your card details go directly to our payment processor, not to us); and
- the content of messages and questions you send us, including questions submitted for Office Hours.
Please do not send us privileged, confidential, or protected client information. Our Terms of Use explain why.
Site analytics. The Site uses first-party analytics to understand how visitors use it. On each visit it records the pages you view, scrolling, clicks, file downloads, outbound link clicks, form submissions, and time engaged, along with the page address and any campaign tags in it (such as UTM source, medium, and campaign), the referring page, page title, screen size, browser language, device, browser, and operating system.
The analytics use your IP address to estimate your approximate location (country, region, city, and approximate coordinates). They do not keep your IP address. They keep only a hashed version that changes every day, used as a backup way to recognize a visit. Return visits are recognized by a random identifier stored in your browser’s local storage. That identifier is not a cookie, is used only on this Site, and is never shared with other sites.
Form and enrollment records. When you submit a form, we store your responses together with the page address, campaign tags, your IP address and country, and spam-prevention signals.
When you enroll in a program, we record your typed name, email address, the date and time, your IP address and browser, and the exact text you agreed to, and we email you a copy.
Information from third parties. Our payment and financing providers, including Stripe and Affirm, tell us whether a payment or financing application succeeded and share the transaction details we need to fulfill your order.
3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use personal information to:
- deliver the free resources, products, and programs you request;
- review and respond to applications;
- process payments and fulfill orders;
- send you the emails you signed up for, including updates and offers about our programs;
- answer your questions and provide support;
- operate, secure, and improve the Site and our offerings, including measuring how visitors find and use the Site and which campaigns and links bring them there;
- prevent fraud, misuse, and violations of our Terms of Use; and
- comply with law and protect our legal rights.
Software and AI tools. We may use software tools, including artificial intelligence tools provided by third parties, to help us organize and review information you submit, such as applications.
We use these tools under settings that do not allow the provider to train its models on your information. A person at Color Legal makes every acceptance decision.
Aggregated information. We may combine information from applications and forms into aggregated or de-identified insights that do not identify you or any client, and use them to understand our audience and develop our offerings.
4. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing or for targeted advertising. We share it only:
- with service providers who help us run the business, including Sparkler (website and course platform), Cloudflare (hosting network, security, and spam protection on our forms), Stripe (payments), Affirm (financing), and our email delivery provider, as well as cloud storage and software providers, each of which receives only what it needs to perform its service for us;
- with your direction or consent, including when you ask us to share something;
- for legal reasons, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order, or is needed to protect our rights, our users, or others; and
- in a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business or assets, in which case your information may be transferred to the successor, subject to this Privacy Policy.
5. COOKIES, DO NOT TRACK, AND EMAIL CHOICES
Cookies and local storage. The Site does not use advertising pixels, cross-site tracking, or third-party analytics cookies. It sets only the cookies it needs to run: a login cookie that keeps enrolled students signed in to the course portal, and a checkout cookie that lasts two hours. Our analytics use the local-storage identifier described in Section 2, not a cookie. Cloudflare, which provides our hosting network and the spam protection on our forms, may set its own cookies to keep the Site secure. You can block or clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings, but sign-in and checkout may not work without them. If we ever add advertising tools, we will update this policy before doing so.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. The Site honors browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. If your browser sends either one, our analytics do not track your visit.
Email. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time through the link in any email or by writing to [email protected]. We may still send you transactional messages about a purchase, application, or program you are enrolled in.
6. RETENTION, SECURITY, AND LOCATION
Retention. We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, including to maintain your access to products and programs, keep business and tax records, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Site analytics data is deleted automatically after 400 days.
Security. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children. The Site is intended for adults working in the legal profession. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Location. Color Legal is based in the United States, and we and our service providers store and process information in the United States. By using the Site from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed there.
7. YOUR CHOICES, CHANGES, AND CONTACT
Your requests. Wherever you live, you may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, give you a copy of it, or delete it, including your Site analytics data. Email [email protected] with your request. We will verify your identity before acting and respond within 45 days. We may keep information the law requires us to keep or that we need to complete a transaction, resolve a dispute, or enforce our agreements. We will not treat you differently for making a request.
California residents. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
Changes. We may update this Privacy Policy by posting a revised version with a new “Last updated” date. If we make a material change to how we use personal information we already hold, we will notify you by email or by a notice on the Site before the change takes effect.
